Hon. Abdulai Abanga is a Deputy Minister for Ministry of Works and Housing and a Member of Parliament for the Binduri Constituency in the Upper East Region since 7th January 2021 and currently serves on the Committee on Government Assurance as the Vice Chairman.
Hon. Abanga Abdulai was born on 25th May, 1970 in Akwatia, Eastern Region but hails from Binduri/Bawku in the Upper East Region of Ghana.
The Deputy Minister had his elementary education in Akwatia L/A Primary School and proceeded to Bansi Primary School in Binduri. He then proceeded to Bawku Junior High School and continued to Ghana Secondary School, Tamale, for his Secondary Education. He obtained a Diploma in Business Studies in Accounting at the Tamale Polytechnic and was awarded a Bachelor of Commerce (BCOM) Degree at the University of Cape Coast in 1998. Hon Abdulai holds a Master’s Degree in Development Finance, Professional Chartered Accountant Certificate in 2005 from the Institute of Chartered Accountants, Ghana (ICAG).
He was the Finance Officer from January 2001 – March 2007 at the National Governance Programme (NGP) and the Management Accountant at the Millennium Challenge Account of the Ghana Programme from 2007 -2008.
He was appointed as the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of the Bawku Municipal Assembly from January 2008 to February 2009. For his efforts and resilience to work, he served as the Lead Consultant and Fund Manager for the Agriculture Credit Programme, Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC, USA) Ghana Programme (MIDA) from February 2009 to February 2021.

Mr. Kwabena Ampofo Appiah is the Managing Director and member of the board of directors of State Housing Company Limited where he is focused on sustaining the Company’s efforts to support Ghana’s housing market and on driving the Company’s contributions to creating a better housing industry for the country.

Prior to joining the State Housing Company Limited in Ghana in June 2017, Mr. Appiah was with St. George Property Developers in Chelsea, London, United Kingdom and then later with Crosland Estates also in London.

His international real estate experience proved invaluable when he joined Fannie Mae in the United States in April 2009 as a Business Analyst and Operations Manager. After distinguishing himself in that role for four years, he was promoted to the position of Customer Support Manager based on his excellent work ethic and exemplary leadership. He served in that role for another four years.

Mr. Appiah’s distinguished service in private and public real estate was recognized beyond the shores of the United States when in 2017, the President of the Republic of Ghana appointed him as the Managing Director of the State Housing Company where he currently works to promote the government’s housing policies and initiatives to create a better housing and real estate industry. Kwabena inherited an almost defunct company, but being a turn-around expert, he has worked tirelessly and managed to successfully turn around the company and made it profitable.

Kwabena holds a BA in Arts, Law and Sociology from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, HND Marketing from Kumasi Technical University, and MA Public Administration, from University of Baltimore.

Tinkering with Non-Market Value: The missing piece of sustainability in Real Estate

Dr. Kwabena Obeng Asiama is currently a Lecturer at the Department of Land Economy, KNUST. He is also junior partner at the Centre for Property Investment, a property and estate services firm. Prior to this, he was assistant professor and leader of the Working Group on Land and Real Estate Management at the Geodetic Institute of the Leibniz University of Hannover, Germany. He received his PhD. (2019) and MSc. (2015) in Geo-Information Science and Earth Observation from the University of Twente in the Netherlands. He completed BSc. in Land Economy (2012) at KNUST, Kumasi, Ghana.
